Brian Sumers, a Los Angeles-based journalist, is an expert on the global airline industry.

Brian is founder and editor of The Airline Observer, a newsletter covering the global airline business. Brian has written about airlines for more than a decade, most recently leading aviation coverage for Skift. He also has contributed stories to Condé Nast Traveler, Aviation Week, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.

Brian appears on television and radio, including on CNN, CBS News, BBC World, and NPR. He also has been quoted about airline news by the New York Times, the Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and Condé Nast Traveler, among other publications.

Brian is a magna cum laude graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and has a master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. He has an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management.

Brian grew up in Chicago. He remains a Chicago Cubs fan and still feels a tinge of nostalgia whenever crossing between Concourses B and C at Chicago O’Hare.
