Want free flights on Allegiant Air? You might want to hurry and book fast.

At midnight PT tonight (Tuesday, March 8), Allegiant told me it is putting 22 new routes on sale, all beginning this spring. To celebrate, Allegiant is planning a promotion. The first 22 people to buy each route will get a special surprise: Allegiant will refund all of their airfare and fees.

In all, Allegiant says 484 people will end up receiving free airfare.

"There is no 'chance' – it’s just the first 22 seats booked on the route, any flight, get a refund," an Allegiant spokeswoman told me.

There's no way to know if you'll win in advance but presumably the sooner you book in the day, the more likely Allegiant will refund your airfare.  I don't recommend buying a ticket expecting to get your money back. But if you want to fly one of these routes anyway, you might as well book today. You could win.

If you're not lucky this time, Allegiant will be doing more offers later this year. The company says it'll be giving away about 5,000 free seats over the next several months as part of a $1 million giveaway promotion.

"We are going to give people the opportunity to take a vacation that they wouldn't otherwise be able to take," another Allegiant spokeswoman told me.

Keep in mind that Allegiant does not fly the sexiest routes, and most of its routes are flown two or three times a week, rather than daily.  You better be willing to fly on the airline's schedule.

These are the 22 new ones going on sale Tuesday, with introductory prices. Will you buy a ticket? Do you think you might get free airfare?
