Iceland's Wow Air takes a light-hearted approach toward aircraft registration.
This week, the airline announced another unusual registration, making one of its Airbus A330s "TF-GAY" to support the LGBT community.
The airline is going to try to fly the aircraft often from Reykjavik to San Francisco, which it calls, "a city synonymous with advancing LGBT rights in the U.S."
How did Wow Air come up with this idea? Here's what CEO Skúli Mogensen said in a release.
When we announced we were going to start flying to San Francisco, one of our pilots approached me and suggested the TF-GAY registry. I immediately thought it was a great idea and matched our approach of using words relating to family members in the spirit of inclusiveness.
