UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune reported the site was back up as of about 1 p.m. PT, though I am still encountering some problems.
ORIGINAL POST: United Airlines' fancy new website went down on Tuesday, and while I don't know why it happened, I'm skeptical the problem is actually "overwhelming demand."
I'm writing this at about 12:30 p.m. PT, and I think the new site has been offline for about an hour.
Here's a statement I received from United:
United.com is temporarily unavailable. During this time travelers may use the United mobile app and airport kiosks to check in for their flights. We are working to resolve the issue quickly.
