American starts rebranding gates at Chicago O'Hare

American Airlines is refreshing its look at Chicago O'Hare, and already a piece of the airline's Terminal 3 no longer looks like the set from the 1990 move, "Home Alone."

Crews were busy late Monday night and early Tuesday morning ripping out American's 1990s branding scheme at Gate H8. In its place? American's new look, which the carrier actually adopted in January 2013. But it has been a slow roll out.

Transforming O'Hare is not a short process. American spokeswoman Leslie Scott told me the airline won't complete rebranding all 67 gates, ticket counters and baggage areas until January.

Why will it take so long?

"We can only work at night," Scott said. "We run such a full schedule that we can't close any gates during the day."

I don't do much on the pop culture front, but how can I resist this Home Alone 2 promo, circa 1992ish? American's O'Hare branding hasn't changed much in 22 years, has it?
