I'm writing a story this week about how Frontier Airlines is installing new slimline seats. While reporting the piece, I learned something interesting. Frontier is making the center seat slightly wider than the window and aisle.
In the new configuration, center seats are 19 inches wide, while windows and aisles are 18 inches. I haven't heard of an other airline doing this, though I know Airbus has long said it is possible. Do you know of an airline with a similar model?
As you might expect, Frontier is changing seats so it can make its aircraft more dense. The airline argues that more seats equals lower fares.
Here's Frontier President Barry Biffle explaining the new seats.
