Anyone have a hankering to visit inland China?
If so, I have good news. Hainan Airlines said this week it will start flying Boeing 787s in January 2016 between Los Angeles and Changsha, capital of Hunan Province. The airline claims the new flights, which will depart L.A. only on Mondays and Thursdays, will be the first from Los Angeles to inland China. Changsha, if you did not already know, is a big city, with more than 7 million people, according to the airline.
I'm not so familiar with the definition of "inland China" Hainan is using, because there are some nonstops to cities other than Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. China Eastern, for example, is now flying to Nanjing. But this is still a big deal. The map is growing from L.A.
Hainan is probably the best Chinese airline. It is the only Chinese airline to receive five stars from Skytrax, the international airline ranking agency. It is an airline I'd like to try. Below is business class.
If you book soon, you can take advantage of a substantial business class discount. You don't often see Asia business class fares this cheap. There are also discounts on coach tickets.
