US Airways might not be the most iconic airline brand out there. After all, the airline didn't even take its current name until 1996, when it switched from USAir, which was not exactly the most loved airline in the sky.

And it has merged so many times with other airlines -- among them Pacific Southwest Airlines and Piedmont Airlines -- that US Airways does not have the same sort of linear history as other airlines.

But American Airlines, now the owner of US Airways, ensured this week that the US Airways brand will live on in some small way. Even when all US Airways aircraft are painted in American colors, one airplane will retain old livery -- with a twist.

Here's the special paint job that American will keep on one US Airways plane. What do you think?
