Before Delta, United and Virgin America got cool and irreverent with their safety videos, Air New Zealand was perfecting the genre.
There was the Betty White video in 2013. There was the All-Blacks rugby themed video of 2010. And don't forget, earlier this year, the video called "oversexed-up," by the Daily Mail, because it featured Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models.
Air New Zealand's new safety video, released Wednesday, is more family friendly. The airline goes back to an old theme -- the Hobbit. That makes sense for an airline that likes to call itself the official "Airline of Middle-earth."
